Still the One – out of 101!

My talented author friend Colette Auclair* alerted me to a new cowboy sighting! It’s Ridge this time, tipping his hat from the pages of Booklist,  the book review magazine of the American Library Association.
“Sierra Dunn is running a group home for boys in foster care in a small Wyoming town, and rancher Ridge Cooper volunteers to help in Kennedy’s realistic, suspenseful, feel-good western romance.” –Booklist
Back in 2014, “How to Handle a Cowboy” made their  “Ten Best Romances of the Year,” and appeared on the “Top 101 Romances of the Decade” as well. Now they’ve updated the “101” list, and “How to Handle” made the cut again! I’m glad to see Ridge wasn’t bumped off the list by any of those young whipper-snapper cowboys I see lined up on the shelves every time I visit my local bookstore. Although I can think of a couple tough guys who would have loved to join him…

101 Best Romance Novels of the Last 10 Years: 2017 Edition

Being on a list with so many of my favorite authors is an honor I never expected to achieve. Jennifer Cruisie, Eloisa James, Lisa Kleypas, Linda Lael MillerSusan Elizabeth Phillips, Jodi Thomas, Susan Wiggs… it’s a who’s who of modern romance, and it makes me (and Ridge) very happy to have been invited to such a star-studded party. I, for one, plan to print out the list and take it to the bookstore, where I’ll stock up on romantic reads. I’ve included links on the authors listed above, and I highly recommend checking out their websites and finding yourself some love!

I was also happy to see some of my fellow Sourcebooks authors there, including M.L. Buchman (twice!) and Julie Ann Walker, both of whom write amazing romances that combine toe-curling romance with amazing action scenes.

You know what else makes me happy? Sharing the list with
Denver author Pam Nowak, whose “Chances” is, as Booklist says, a “smart and snappy Western romance.” It’s also a book I really, really loved. Pam was one of the first authors to offer me a helping hand when I was starting out, and I’m forever grateful!
*Now let me tell you more about Colette Auclair, who alerted me to this list. Colette was born with two amazing advantages (actually, she got more than two, because she’s pretty and smart, but we won’t go into that!). First, she got the perfect name for a romance novelist. Then, she got the talent to write excellent love stories with swoon-worthy heroes and heroines you can’t help rooting for.

She’s the author of “Thrown,” “Jumped,” and “Branded,” which are funny, romantic, and horsey–not necessarily in that order. They’re also highly, highly recommended by moi (notice how I got all Frenchified there, in honor of her mellifluous name?).
