Wild West Castles

Today’s guest blog is over at the Casababes site. This month’s theme is “travel,” so my entry is about Montana ghost towns.

I know when you say “ghost town” you are referring to those towns where many buildings are vacant hulls, and the sidewalks and streets have stories they could tell about laughter and disaster …

But what about those buildings where there really is something paranormal lurking in the hallways of buildings? I know for a fact that I really did hear someone scream in the middle of the night at the Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, WY — and it wasn’t a scream of passion, but terror!

I bet there are others out there with their own ghostly stories. Sometimes it’s just imagination, and generally I try to rationalize the sights, sounds, and chills — but I’m telling you, when the walls start bleeding — I’m outta there!

Your work is great. Writing is the best.. isn’t it. I lived in Sidney NE for 20 years, and sure miss the West now that I’m caring for my father in Iowa… but planning a trip back to WY to see my son (Sheridan) soon. Do you have a PO so I could send you some old artifacts that might inspire you? Noth’n else to say…

Hi, Steve–thanks for the note! It’s always great to realize you have a new reader.
Best of luck with your dad- being a caregiver is always a challenge, but rewarding, I hope. And enjoy your trip to Wyoming! Sheridan is beautiful – one of my favorite towns.
Artifacts? I love artifacts! I don’t have a P.O. box, but I work at the Cheyenne Barnes & Noble, 1851 Dell Range Blvd., Cheyenne WY 82009.
