I have a real soft spot for this story. Artsy, spirited Cat Crandall (one of my favorite heroines!) is disappointed when her much-anticipated job teaching painting classes in exotic places carries her not to Tuscany or Paris, but to a broken-down dude ranch in Wyoming.

But despite the less-than-stellar accommodations, she finds herself inspired by the landscape – and enraptured by her wry and reluctant guide, cowboy Mack Boyd.
